  3. My favorite CrossFitter, going all the way back to the 2007 games when updates were via internet posts and CrossFit.com. Amazing how far he has come and how well rounded he has become.

  4. My favorite crossfit athlete as well. I still don't think it's right that he only weighs 150# and there's still no body weight conversion rules. If there were and I think there should be, you're looking at a multiple games champion. Simply amazing, almost seems impossible what he does at 150.

    1. No doubt that he is probably the most powerful athlete per pound of body weight across CrossFit, but I doubt HQ will ever introduce those types of modifiers into scoring. Its a can of worms that I don't think they want to approach and have little incentive ($$$) to do so either.

  5. Heartbreaker at last year's regoinals - looking forward to watching Spealler compete this year.

"Becoming a Supple Leopard" + 1 Lacrosse ball = an uncomfortable yet beneficial hour

  6. Agreed Chris, although it would be nice to see some things change on single lift/complex WODs. Having speal compete in a snatch ladder with no conversion is just flat out stupid. It's essentially having an oly meet with no weight classes.

    1. I think "they" try to counter that aspect of things with the body weight movements. Where Chris falls behind in lifting, he absolutely DESTROYS in body weight movements. You put Aja Barto, Lucas Parker, Garrett Fischer, etc against him in any pull-up, push-up, sit-up, muscle-up, etc combination and its no contest by miles yet those guys all lift significantly greater numbers than Chris.

I think that's pretty much what makes this such a challenge. What you are good at, I probably am not, and vice versa. Its really hard to become the most balanced across everything though!

Personally, Chris amazes me with his work ethic and metabolic conditioning for his age. Every time I complain that my age is holding back my recovery or progress he pops up in my mind! Absolute inspiration.

    2. All the above comments make sense and Speal is for sure the peoples champ!
But this is exactly why Rich is the champ... If you want a 5 headed monster, well Rich proves himself all the time to be the most balanced...
Surely Speal wont miss a Games spot this year tho!!

    3. These walking lunges were probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Seeing him go (considering this is actually more than his bodyweight) was totally inspiring...

  7. Watched Speal doing the Cindy XXX from crossfit mainsite not to long ago and was so envious of his air squat I thought about quitting crossfit briefly.
Spent some time on mobility and squat therapy this AM.
Also added some strength supplement; trying to kill this "goat" of being a weak ass mofo.
Ready for whatever tomorrow throws at me

    1. I saw that and was amazed too. It was inspiring and I can only hope to be that proficient at shays push-ups and pull-ups as Speal one day!

  8. This "Ogar" workout looks really bad-ass.
Hope we get a shot at it!!

  9. Ben,

Should we expect our Rest Days to change as we approach the Open?

With the new criteria (Announcements on Thursday/Workouts Closing on Monday) I was wondering if we would mimic last years programming with a Rest Day on the day of the announcement.

Thanks for the programming and I am looking forward to the Open!

    Josh

  10. Hey everyone! First, I would like to thank Ben Bergeron for giving this programming to follow everyday. Been following (secretly lol!) since July. Been experiencing a steady progression ever since. Next, I'd like to thank all of you for posting your times. I train alone, so it's always nice to be able to see everyone's times/loads.
