  1. Anyone else feel like they're really hitting their stride right now? Maybe it's just that I'm finally feeling 100% after a back injury in November, but the last 2 weeks of training have been great. All the feelings of being overtrained/worn out back in the fall are gone, and things seem to be falling into place for the Open. But then again, I guess that was the plan.

Hopefully the rest of you are feeling the same way.

Think Ben programmed it that way?

  3. Guys if you haven't heard Kevin Ogar severed T-11/12 and severed his spinal cord at the OC Throwdown this past weekend. If you get a chance check out https://fundly.com/kevin-ogar-s-recovery . I also believe Barbells for Boobs will be setting up a site. From my understanding he does not have medical insurance and his medical bills from this type of procedure (procedures) will be extensive.

  4. Quick question:
Last time we did the open test (7.8.13) we did 30 burpees before the 30 c2b pullups. Any1 know why its changed?

Hope you get well soon Kevin!

    1.Back Squats-265lbs. Could have probably done 275.
2.Open Test- So funny/not so funny story here. I got 285 reps. BUT, during the c2b's my bar came loose and it rolled out of my hands on the way down. Landed square on my back. Kinda knocked the wind out of me for a little less than a minute. If it wasn't for that I would've finished the snatches. Oh well! Darn garage get-up. It was a 25 rep PR nonetheless!

Felt really good going into this fatigue and condo started to kick in about 16:30-17:00, (145 felt heavy today)
Muscle ups are my goat especially deep into a WOD. Missed 3 that slowed me down...

Hit 297 total reps. if no misses would have gotten deep into the Wall Balls

First time doing this workout. I was more just going through the motions with a conservative rep scheme approach. Will attack it a little differently next time. Great stuff though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1 full round... (Technically 299, as I landed a muscle up and didnt lock it out because I subluxed my shoulder, which then made me take at least 30 seconds to assess if I could continue, so I'm considering that freak issue aside I would have got at least 10 wall-ball)

Happy about this but I want to repeat this workout until I'm getting through all 50 WB...

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Kevin O, very scary accident, I'm sure the CF community will do whatever it can to help him as much as possible.

Test: 271 reps My only "scale" was my 9.5 ft ceiling on the WBs. I'm not going to lie - I'm feeling good like many of you. If it wasn't for my nemesis (C2Bs), I would have made it to the snatches. They literally KILLED me. I think I did 20-25 singles. Awful. Other than that, I felt great.

This will likely be my only full workout of the week since I'm going to start tapering for this weekend's partner competition. I should be back in full action on Monday/Tuesday.

Keep it up everyone. Very impressive scores out there...

Did wallballs unbroken and went straight to the box accidentally. Luckily one of my buddies corrected me before I had done too many box jumps (think I only did 6 or so). Was up all night battling my restless legs so was pretty zombie-ish this morning. Not making excuses, just noting my state. I'm well aware that there is plenty of room for improvement with some of these movements.

    1. Another sign of my discombobulated state... at one point I looked at the time on the clock and thought, 'Man, I've got plenty of time to finish a full round'. Until I looked up a short while later and was reminded that the clock was counting down. Gulp... not enough time.

    2. 291. Goal was to make it into MUs. I thought I'd make it there with more time though. Unbroken WBs, flew through DUs and BJs. Naturally, T2B was slow (10,5, 3, singles) and after those I found C2B to be really hard to string together so those were mostly singles too, which gassed me. Burpees >2min. Cleans and Jerks in ~sets of 5. Snatches singles. Made it to MUs with little under a min left.

Warm up with snatches felt great after fixing some positioning issues. Also strung together 2 no-false grip MUs for first time.

Did a warm up consisting of 3 rds of 200m row 25 air squats 30 doubles.

WOD 252, f*cked up twice firstly by using a 7kg ball so had to start again then started doing 40 pull ups instead of toes to bar, so that took time and energy out, did around 10 before I realised, been working alot on trying to build power recently so metcons have suffered and could feel it, as people have said the t2b and c2b really tested people. For me though the most complete crossfit WOD I've done, has it all.

Open Test- 292, Had a couple no reps and I stood around way too long on the barbell stuff. I am disappointed that I didn't push myself on certain elements. This is a 6 rep improvement however those are 6 huge reps. To finish the snatches with enough time to try for the muscle ups is huge. So if I take off my Jeremy the competitor hat and put on my Jeremy the coach hat those 6 reps are a significant improvement. Even if I had finished the snatches last time I would have DNF'd the muscle ups.

Not happy... I pooped the bed a bit and started to slow way down around the CTB and burpees and cleans... next time I hit this I think I could do better.

  77. Open Program
    1) 289 (9 snatches) - did the t2b and box jumps backwards, otherwise Rx. Snatches felt heavy, otherwise very pleased. Last score was 268 in July. 300 is a realistic goal in another 6 months.

  81. Making up for my missed posts:

Did this yesterday...was out of town for work for a while....did workouts, but modified some, and didn't have a reliable timer.

    1: 5X7 @ 285lbs....missed 5th rep on round 6...came too far forward, reset and got it...finished rest

2: Open test: man....I don't think I miscounted, but maybe I did. 350!! Got last wall ball at 0:00....all felt quick, and pretty smooth. Unb wall ball, d.u., box jump, 20/10/10 t2b, 15/10/5 c2b, fast burpees, cleans 5/singles fast, jerks 10/10, snatch 2/singles fast, 5/3/2 m.u.....pretty much blacked out on wall balls, don't remember rep scheme

    Morning EMOM X 24min
    - 15 cal row
    - 15 burpees
I know it's not part of the program, but when we did 30min last time I only got 14min without scaling, so been working on my conditioning. Honestly could have got the full 30min, but classes were starting and I had to teach...
    1. No squats: loading my knee is a bit iffy atm
    2. Metcon: 'the open test'
    - 348 reps
*could have pushed a lot more and made 400. Next time.
