ReplyDeleteBOOM! 178, 28 more than the open! Understand it's not the same workout per se but I actually found the lateral bar burpees to be more time consuming than the burpees to a 6" target.

Tripped over the bar on burpee’s multiple times, Banged my knees on the snathes even more. The only positive note is that no one was there to witness the debacle. Oh well, tomorrow’s another day, Thanks for letting me vent.

1. AMRAP 17: 150 reps. I made four attempts at 165. I was just smoked by that point. BUT, this is a huge improvement from the open. My 1RM then was 135 and I only hit it twice. So a 48 rep improvement:)

2. Did some squat therapy. Tried the jerk grip OHS with a 10second hold at the bottom. Worked up to 155lbs.

ReplyDeleteWell, this one stung! 135 is currently my 1RM and during the Open I was only able to muscle one up (with bad form), so I had a decision to make today...scale the weight and get more reps in, or tackle a goat head-on and see what I've got. I decided to go after it with a 6ft target just to do a true comparison.
The good news is that I finished the first 100 reps 2 minutes faster than in the Open - the bad news is that I just didn't have enough in the tank to squat snatch 135. I finally gave in, caught my breath, ditched my gloves, and muscled/powered up 3 reps towards the end. Hopefully yesterday's WODs had something to do with it - and maybe the gloves?
I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm thoroughly disappointed, but I'm still happy that I finished the 100 reps much faster...and the most important thing is that I'm still better than I was yesterday. Just one of those reality checks that everyone hates to face.
Time to turn my focus to snatches (and muscle ups)...
Congrats to all of the great improvements out there.

ReplyDelete174 - 169 in last year's Open, so I'm pumped that my conditioning is continuing to get better and I'm already in better shape 10 weeks prior to the "season" than this time last year. Definitely could've pushed a little more to get all the 165's and last set of Burpees if I were in the Open state-of-mind

Got 162 this time lateral burpees made it tougher but I got 169 a couple weeks ago with regular burpees so I'm happy that I stayed close to that considering the burpees were slower.

Lateral burpees were tougher, but I may have done a few too many burpees in the round of 30 as they took far longer than I thought. On the plus side I did a 4:40 Isabel bc I was so far behind schedule. Overall just confused by this result and wish I had someone counting for me.
150, same as the open. Disappointing is an understatement but will bounce back tomorrow, awesome work everyone and thanks to Dan and Brooks for having me workout with them. Both did great!

ReplyDelete190 with 5 secs left, not enough time to get the extra 20# on the bar. This is up 36 reps from the open and I found the lateral jump tougher than the 6" target. I've been following this program since June, it has completely changed my game :D Thank you Ben!

ReplyDeleteDid 153 Reps same as open last year.... Quads were smoked before I started from yesterdays squat cleans and squats and the lateral burpees definitely took longer. Had 3:30 to do the 165# snatches missed the first one and waited :30 and got 3 in a row in :45 seconds....
