  1. I've been having some pains in my stomach, it's been going on for a bout a month and I had a few conversations with various paramedics, nurses, and other health care friends of mine and they all are suggesting its the onset of an inguinal hernia. Looks like I have to have a rest week or 2. Not stoked, but I know it's what needs to happen.

    1. I actually had hernia surgery in summer of 2008 and started CrossFit about 3 months later, coincidentally. My original hernia was not related to lifting, at least to my knowledge. The good news is I've not had any more problems with it post-surgery. The bad news is that, at least from what I was told, if you do have a hernia, the only way to fix it is surgery. It just won't heal on its own. Recovery time for me was like 2 weeks for light exercise and a month before I was back to normal.

Hope all goes well for you.

  2. Hey Ben!

I've Been following this programming since last December and I try to post all the time to show my thanks, but I figured writing this would be a good way to send thanks as well. I just signed up for the CrossFit Southie Showdown next weekend since a few spots opened up, and I can honestly say I've never been so confident. This is the first competition I truly have never actually cared about what the workouts are. I have such confidence in myself as an athlete and my preparedness I felt no matter what the workouts are I'll be good to go. This program has developed me so well through my beginning stages of CrossFit. I'm 22 years old and plan to continue this program, and know it can get me to that next level. So I thank you again for your dedication to this site and I will represent very well come next weekend.
