  1. Ok this just sucked and humbled me. Blew up on the CTBs 2nd round and couldn't recover after. 79 reps.

I know I can do better.

  2. I have a 3:59 Fran so this should be interesting. Good luck everyone!

    1. I had the same thoughts until I realized its chest to bars vs regular pull-ups.

  4. 58 measly reps. Terrible. C2Bs killed me, shouldn't have gone unbroken on the first set. Hope to prove on this Sunday, but the time bonus is out of the question (kinda glad cuz another 4 minutes of that would be hell!)

    2. Thanks Ty. Will be glad after the Open is finally over. It's been fun but the psychological stress is getting to me! Lets get back to "normal" training already!

    2. ya I see we both got robbed today. or rewarded, whichever way you wanna look at it. I too think it's insane to redo this but I was 52nd in my region after last week so I need every rep I can get, and I know I have to break through the 4 min mark if I wanna move into the 48

    3. Yea you're pretty close, you def need to redo and sure you'll break into the next rd

  7. Okay so I am over this...I have spent the last three days in a funk...totally down on myself...totally realizing that the one thing that is missing from my life is balance. You see..we cant be all CrossFit...and no life...we turn into zombies...just going through the motions...
I hired a gymnastics coach about 2 months ago...and i think the extra volume was just killing me...that and suddenly...i lost site of what I love about crossfit...I was only competing against myself now...and sometimes...i know i can be my own worst enemy. I was falling apart...my body was hurting...my kelly time was a complete failure...i need time away from CrossFit! I am going to get through this last workout...and take some down time.

So I decided today..i wanted to do tuesdays work...i happen to really like diane..and I felt like putting some weight on the bar...i didnt think about the other stuff i felt like i HAD to do...time to do what I WANT to do...

5x1 Clean and Jerks...stayed manageable 150/160/165/165/165...clean reps good form
    3x2 Moderate...155 for all sets

7x2 FS OTM...185 (5 # under my 10 RM from Monday...upper thoracic area kinda trashed from these.

A little heavier Diane....havent done it at 185# in a while...so gave it a go...think my last time was around 3:50 isn at that weight

    today...3:13....All unbroken...felt good about it.
Did a little test run to see how my legs would feel ...15 Air Squats 15 C2b Pull Ups OTM for 4 Min...ouch! this is going to hurt!

    1. Cheryl, Mark, & Everyone else,

I’m right there with you guys. I feel you.

Last July when I found this blog, I promised myself that I’d commit to this program, not give up half way and go back to cherry-picking Crossfit.com and CFNE’s wods. These past 8 months have been amazing. I’ve had some huge gains in my Crossfit career and can now feel confident to RX the women‘s weights at the affiliate I recently joined.

My two goals since starting this have been a muscle up and (since Derek’s post way back) a sub 5 minute Fran. Both have now been accomplished. As of tomorrow, I’ll have completed my first Crossfit Open, and I now have the opportunity to compete on my affiliate’s team for regionals.

Because of this program I am a more “rounded” Crossfitter. You know on a video game, when you choose a character you see their stats? All my bars have levelled out now. HSPUs that were once a weakness are now a strength. Double unders that we’re once impossible are now consistently decent. The only weaknesses that I still carry with me are gymnastic based. Ring dips, chest to bars & muscle ups. But this is my fault. Derek warned us that this programming was geared towards games athletes, what I didn’t realize was that you’d have to have ALL the movements in your skill bank, Ben can’t program specifically for everyone, I knew my weaknesses from the beginning, I should have made extra time to work them. Lesson learned.

All that said, my body has taken one hell of a beating. I am looking forward to a week off after the open. A week to get outside of the gym, enjoy the sunshine, do some running and praise God.

A huge thanks to Ben and Derek for all their time and work they spent to program for us. You have made me a better athlete, a better racehorse and a competitor.

Not only have I made gains in PR’s, I’ve also realized that Crossfit is about a whole lot more than just working out. It’s about community, helping and encouraging others, improving not only your confidence but changing your attitude and being more positive as well.

Thanks to the psychological stress of the open, when I was at my lowest point and completely consumed by all the numbers, I somehow found God working in my life again. My priorities have shifted and this has changed my outlook on training, Crossfit and life. I’m thankful for this above all else. Cheryl talks about balance in her post above, yes life is about balance, it cant be all Crossfit all the time. Another lesson learned.

Good luck on 13.5 folks, thanks for letting me be part of your amazing little community.

I'm just seeing this now. Very cool post- thank you for sharing. Happiest to hear that God is working in your life again. Without Him nothing else matters.

Also for the record, this blog is all Ben. I've just been fortunate enough to have been around him and CFNE for a while so I've picked up a few things along the way that I try to share.

      Good luck and God Bless!

    1. Hey Belinda you probably didn't know this but I'm Lucas Proulx from Crossfit Genetic Potential. I didn't recognize your name on here yet because I've only seen it as Belinda Cox. We're in almost the same situation right now, I was in 52nd in Canada East after last week. Good luck, I hope you make the top 48!

  15. 67. Not extremely excited, but not overly surprised. My goal is to get close to 80 for my redo Sunday. Like I said, CTB is a major goat of mine. Will be working on it, though :)

  16. 77, wasnt in it mentally today. Prefatigued working all day doing construction. Expecting much better on saturday or sunday, glad I got an idea of what im up against though

  17. 65 reps...couldn't go four minutes without rest time ha

    ReplyDelete
  18. 140
Thrusters unbroken till second 4 mins
All pull up sets broken into 5-5-5
This benefited me alot towards the end of the 1st 90 reps cuz I had that extra gear to kick in rather than bein gassed. Felt great, very whooped physically but felt good strategically.

After completing the first 3 rounds, the bar doubled and the room was foggy. People were shouting for me to keep moving, but I just wanted to lay down and take a nap. I was blasted, to say the least!

To everyone, great job on the Open. CF Silicon Valley is in the hunt for the Regionals, and we want to thank Ben and all of the awesome CompWod community.
