Rest Day
Ben,
I don't know if we have every formally met. I am married to Tanya Wagner.
I just wanted to drop you an email to let you know Tanya and I have been following your Competitors WOD programming for the past month and a half to 2 months. It has been nice following someone elses programming rather than your own, let me tell you. That being said I wanted to say thank you so much for your efforts in your programming.
We are currently following about 1 month behind your current Comp. Wod programming and we have both seen huge gains in our strength and Oly Lifts. I just pr'd my snatch at 240lb yesterday after missing 205lb in this past years regionals and having an old pr of 215lbs. Tanya just hit 145lb on her snatch 10lbs more than ever before and also hit a 200lb C&J for her first time. Both of our strength numbers on our frnt and bk squats have also significantly increased.
Thanks again so much for your generosity on allowing people such as ourselves to follow your expertise in programming for competitive athletes. Hopefully this can help both of us make a good run at the games again this year. Good luck to you and Heather with your new addition to the family.
Thanks again Josh.
Any recommendations for weighted vests? Brand & where to buy?
ReplyDeleteI have a Nike Spraq vest. It's about 20#. Fits well and doesn't bounce around. But it maxes out at 30# if you buy the extra weight.
ReplyDelete"box" vests are comfortable but not sure what they max out at...

Anyone have a recommendation for Oly lifting shoes?
ReplyDeleteHow much you wanna spend?
DeleteI had Risto's (the same ones that the Again Faster brand ones are modeled from), and I liked them (nice wooden heel). They didn't hold up well for me (though I know others who had them and theirs are still holding up fine). I now have the Pendlay Do-Wins and like them a little better.
DeleteThanks for the vest info, I'll check them both out.
ReplyDeleteFor shoes I have the Adidas trainers. They are 90 dollars or so and I have found them useable for the majority of Crossfit except for running. They have held up well as use them every day except running days.
I would avoid a wooden soled shoes unless your looking at single lifts--they are rather heavy. Again faster offers a few different styles as does Rogue.
I'm a Nike junky. Has anyone used The romaleos? The reviews on those and the adi powers are pretty good.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't wanna spend more than $200 bud. Feels like a sound investment because they last forever.
DeleteNike's are real stiff and hard to use for anything expect strictly lifting, but are fantastic for what they are ment for, they break in after about a year so you can do box jumps, double unders, extra., I rock the do-wins, they've lasted for 3+ years and are pretty versatile wod wise, I've hears good things about the Reebok plus, both Reebok and do-wins are around $120-140
DeleteReebok oly shoes are the lightest on the market and designed for Crossfit, you can box jump, etc., in them. Many athletes at CFNE wear them.
